Photography of piece by Suzy Gorman
Installed at Mildred Lane Kemper Museum at Washington University in St. Louis for the 2025 Slow Gardens MFA Thesis Show
steeped in sepia
The past and present
constantly colliding
creating the current moment
transforming beneath the surface
Layers of myself
built upon each other
Like sediment
capturing all the versions within
All of the people and experiences
That left a mark on me
making me who I am today
sparking a fire inside of me
As strong as innumerable suns and stars
I am my own home
As all versions of myself take me by the hand
showing myself the way
The way forward, our future
continuing to embrace change
collapsing and transmuting, never stagnant
